The Wheeler Committee: External Research Review Panel

The Wheeler Committee is an integral part of the extensive review process for ABF research. After an internal review committee evaluates the research, the Wheeler Committee provides external review to ensure that the proposed study will make a significant contribution to the field and can be carried out with the appropriate standards of integrity, human subjects protection, and scholarship. Once the internal review committee and the Wheeler Committee approve the proposed study, the Research Committee of the ABF Board of Directors and ultimately the full ABF Board must also approve before the project can move forward.

The Wheeler Committee was named in memory of Stanton Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler, Professor Emeritus at Yale Law School, served on the External Research Review Panel since 1974, and acted as chair of that panel for over two decades.
